the colours of the rainbow

in response to Marty's plea about what the exact difference was between blue and indigo, I have been googling the very best scientific websites for the very best images to make it clear.
Blue ranges from a pale turquoise to a decent electric blue, cobalt even!
Indigo appears to be a mixture of blue and Violet, so a kind of purplish tinged blue
Hopefully these images will help!

you raising hell again Marty?
Thanks Jill, I am sure that will help some people. It helped me draw my little rainbow.

So we can use several tints of our colour, right? Violets, purples, lilacs for example— as long as it is only within our colour?

As for the difference between blue and indigo,I always thought of indigo as a deep deep blue, like the dye... That's always a tricky one!

I spent my $s on ink and acrylic. You're all gettin' what I got. I think I have the words but not the accent, if you know what I mean?

I have my book and I'm all ready to go. Not quite sure what to do. May do what I always do when I don't know what to do, flowers and raccoons.

Szaza - yes - use tints for sure ( I have to make up for not allowing you all to use black!)
I am looking forward to the one colour challenge!

Marty - i do Flowers and birds - maybe the raccoon could eat one of my birds??!! Or are they vegetarian? I don't know - we don't have them in the UK.

No Raccoons?! Check 'em out, http://www.flickr.com/groups/raccoons/. Raccoons are omnivours, like us. Also, like us, they can be cute & crabby at the same time. It's a character I can relate well to.

Raccoons are fabulous little creatures! But Jill, you have wonderful little hedgehogs, which sadly we don't. I LOVE hedgehogs. I see that some people have them as pets, and that appeals to me.

I'm going to the art store.
